Recently, T-Mobile the well known carrier featured the Huawei Prism 2 on its website. Prism 2 is the successor to Huawei’s Prism and it is soon expected to be made available for all the customers of T-Mobile, as per the carrier’s website. Going by the specs and features that this device offers, you could brand it as a budget smartphone. So that you get a clearer picture about why we are calling the Prism 2 a budget phone, let us go over the specs.
To begin with, the device sports a 3.5 inch TFT display that has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. Under the hood is a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A5 single-core processor, which is an improvement over the Prism that has a 600 MHz processor. The device has been equipped with a modest 512 MB of RAM and has an internal storage space of 4 GB, which you can expand further to not more than 32 GB with the aid of a microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, which although not the latest version can still be considered satisfactory.
At rear of the device is fitted a 3.2-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom. The Prism 2 has been packed with a 1750 mAh battery, which in other words means that if you use all the features of the device in a normal fashion the juice in the battery would last for about 6-7 hours. The device supports 3G and also comes equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and Micro-USB 2.0. We need to mention here that the device doesn’t have a camera in the front, so you can forget about using this device for video conferencing.
All in all, it would be safe to say that there isn’t much difference between the Prism and Prism 2 except for a slightly more powerful processor, a battery that can hold more juice and an updated OS. But, we have to remind you here that the Prism 2 is a budget phone that you can purchase outright for $116 and at that kind of a price you really can’t expect anything better. T-Mobile on its part hasn’t yet revealed what kind of plans or terms it will offer its customers for the Prism 2, but it’s being speculated that the device might be made available on the carrier’s website from 26th June.
